In collaboration with filmmakers, we create soundtracks that do more than simply 'sound good' – we explore beyond images to enhance emotions in storytelling. We believe that sound is a great tool to emphasize the message of your film. Where picture brings information, sound brings feeling and energy. Sound is the best kept secret of filmmaking, waiting for you to harness its power and make your film better.
We are a full-service sound-production studio in the heart of Amsterdam. We have worked on numerous films and television series. Among our clients are Dutch production companies, broadcasters, and streamers like Netflix, Disney+ and Amazon Prime.

Babi Bork
Sound editor / Re-recording mixer
Babi lived in São Paulo, Brazil. She studied Audiovisual Communication at Fiam Faam and fundamentals of acoustics and sound at IAV. From 2008 she has been working in sound post for film and TV in São Paulo. She lives with her family in Amsterdam since 2018 and joined forces with Studio Vermaas in 2022.
Tifanie Ashba
Sound editor / Technical / IT
Tifanie lived in Egypt and France. She studied IT at the Bordeaux Institute of Technologies and Sound for Audiovisual at the Biarritz Advanced Technician School. After a successful internship in 2021 at Studio Vermaas she relocated to Amsterdam to join our team.
Marco Vermaas
Founder / Sound Designer / Re-recording mixer
After getting his bachelor degree in Fine Arts at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in 1989, Marco started working on films. He worked as a DOP, Editor, Animator and Visual Effects artist, until he discovered sound. He founded Studio Vermaas in 1995 and has since then worked on the sound of more than 180 films and tv series. He was nominated for, and won several awards for Sound Design.
We frequently work with the best freelance sound specialists and collaborate with the Nederlandse Film Academie, the HKU and other European schools to host and train interns.
FACILITIES
Sound Editorial
The sound edit suites for dialog editing, effects editing, foley sweetening and sounddesign, are fully equipped with Protools HDX and Dolby Atmos or 5.1 monitoring. Sound effects can be monitored as Doby Atmos Objects immediately. Many plugins for creative sounddesign are available. We own an ever growing sound effects library with hundreds of thousands sounds from all over the world.
ADR recording
The ADR recording stage is connected to all other studios for talent recording and talkback. A central Video Hub connects 4K video between any of the studios. For remote ADR sessions we can stream picture synced with sound, overlayed with webcam image over the internet, using Source Connect Pro and Session Link Pro. Directors can join from any location using their laptop, tablet or phone.
Mixing
Three of our studios are fully equipped for Dolby Atmos mixing, with Protools HDX, Avid S4 consoles, Dolby Atmos Renderer and 7.1.4 monitoring. All studios can handle 4K picture playback.
