KAPSALON ROMY (ROMY’S SALON) wins 4 Golden Calves out of 5 nominations. Best Director for Mischa Kamp, Best Actress for Beppie Nelissen, Best Actress in a Supporting Role for Noortje Herlaar and Tamara Bos got one for Best Original Script. MARIONETTE wins a Golden Calf Best Production Design for Anne Winterink.

Marco Vermaas won a GOLDEN CALF Best Sound Design for his work on BUMPERKLEEF (TAILGATE)! Marco couldn’t attend the ceremony because he’s mixing a Norwegian film in quarantaine. He feels honored and grateful. Director Lodewijk Crijns read Marco’s acceptance speech. Marco thanks Joost Roskam for the production sound, Arnoud Traa for his sound effects work on the film, Rosanne Blokker for the dialog edit, Céline Bernard for the foley and Alek Goosse for his work on the mix.

As of today, October 1st, you can sit back and watch BUMPERKLEEF (TAILGATE) on Netflix.

Feature MARIONETTE by Elbert van Strien had its premiere at the NFF in Utrecht last night. Due to Covid-19 regulations the theater was only filled for one third. At the same moment the film was screened in 102 theaters around the Netherlands with NFF on tour. Former Rietveld-academy-classmates Marco Vermaas and cinematographer Guido van Gennep were proud to be part of it. The film will be released Thursday October 1st.

MARIONETTE with the title REPRESSION can now be seen in the UK and Ireland. In Russia MARIONETTE is released as well.

Three films we worked on qualify for a total of 13 Golden Calf nominations. Next to the two Best Sound Design nominations for Marco Vermaas, BUMPERKLEEF (TAILGATE) also received Best Film, Best Directing, Best Original Score and Best Cinematography. MARIONETTE is also nominated for Best Directing and Best Production Design. And finally KAPSALON ROMY (ROMY’S SALON) has nominations for Best Film, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, Best Actress and Best Actress in a supporting Role.

At the NFF (Nederlands Film Festival) Marco Vermaas got nominated for a Golden Calf, twice! The nominations are for Best Sound Design on BUMPERKLEEF (TAILGATE) and MARIONETTE. Both films were also nominated Best Director for Lodewijk Crijns and Elbert van Strien. Another film we worked on, ROMY’S SALON, got Mischa Kamp nominated for Best Director and Best Screenplay for Tamara Bos. Congratulations! The award ceremony will be held in Utrecht, Friday October 2nd.

The World Premiere of MARIONETTE will be at the NFF in Utrecht coming Tuesday September 29th. NFF on tour will bring MARIONETTE to 79 cinemas in the NL for a pre-premiere that same evening. Leading up to this, Dutch TV program RTL Boulevard will have an interview with lead actress Thekla Reuten Sunday September 27th at 7 p.m. ‘De Vooravond’ on NPO1 and SBS6 Shownieuws will have an interview with her on the eve of the premiere. MARIONETTE will be released in cinemas in the Netherlands; October first.

Marco Vermaas is mixing the Norwegian feature DRAGEVOKTERENS JUL (English title will follow soon). An exciting adventure where two young heroes befriend a newborn dragon, together they will turn Christmas upside down and put it on fire.
